The Midnight RunA Poem by Michael KnightDriving on the highway late at night, had to rush to get home to write this as it came to me after watching The Wraith
My time is just about up.
I get in my car, turn the ignition feel it come alive dimly lit lights telling me my speed and my track timer, a shaded green I find the streets, look at the bodies without souls and penitent bodies wanting a purpose, the armies of the night watching my every move, listening to what i hear The Boss on the radio. My time is just about up I ride on the highway, the yellow lamp posts illuminate my only path going steady now, the roads are hardly visible the moon steps in as a spotlight, following my journey into the night I feel a rush, I'm on fire, I can taste it, down by the valley, I see where I am, and look forward to the unknown My time is just about up. but I want to go back, but we need to move forward hold my hand just sit tight with me and together we take the midnight run © 2012 Michael Knight |
