Heaven is an Ocean

Heaven is an Ocean

A Poem by Clare Jaycee
"

This is a really personal piece written when I was 20. Inspired by the Albert Cammus quote 'in the mist of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer'.

"

Glistening waves on an endless ocean,

refractions from an infinite sunshine,

sitting in a bright blue sky.

Mangos and pineapples,

strawberries and kiwis,

we will live the sweetest life.

I am not drowning in the midnight ocean,

I’ll be swimming in the turquoise sea.

I am not alone in my emptiness,

you’ll help me fill the space.

Hibiscus and Plumeria,

tropics and waves,

we don’t have a 9 to 5.

Time will stop,

and we’ll always be young.

We’ll never need to die,

because we’ve already reached heaven.

Dream catchers and sun kisses,

azure and indigo,

nothing but love and the blue.

The sun will melt this winter haze,

slowly, slowly lifting.

Leaving only the summer hues,

I have so longed for.

No more nightmares and tears,

concrete and cold,

nothing but hate and the grey.

Eventually, eventually, eventually.

An endless ocean,

An infinite sunshine,

An invincible summer.

I must get to the ocean.

I must get to the blue,

I must get to heaven.

My friend,

Forever,

The sea.
