A father who loves meA Poem by LuvWriting
You've been there for me since I began.
You were there, when I came into this world. You have watched over me all my life. When I was little, I would run to you for comfort. You would scare away the monsters in my room, And kiss away the hurt for my injuries. You taught me how to ride a bike, How to walk and how to talk. You would calm me down after a nightmare, And protect me from the bad guys. The one place I could feel safe was in your arms. You voice was something I would recognize from far away. But I didn't realize that you were also protecting others. Along with my brothers and sisters, you protected the nation. You have always been serving everyone while in the military. Now you are away. You are over seas serving that nation even more. Over in war, protecting others while also still protecting me. While you are gone, I am growing. I am learning to drive, starting high school. Wishing you were there to share in the things that happen. A recital, a play, a sporting event, A first date, a father-daughter dance. Things are happening on my end and on yours. Things that are a part of life. Sometimes I wish this awful war did not separate us, Or that you had never been chosen to be deployed. And other times I am proud that you were, Proud that you are being brave, And that your fighting for other's rights. I just hope, That you miss me as much as I miss you, dad. You are the father who protects me and loves me.
