Nightfall
I am dark and still. I move for no one.
Whatever you see I surround in darkness,
Changing and modifying the normal you know.
I am mysterious, but not unknown---
A puzzle of shadows within your expanses.
Residing only where brightness lacks,
In corners where no light touches.
I believe it my home. But it shifts.
Now I am the blackness within a man's mind
and heart. He looks to me when
the shadows become to definate in his life.
He indulges me with weakened cries and painful sobs.
He relies on my secrets. He can lose himself
for a moment, always knowing what awaits in the morning.
In me the young boy fades, and in the morning the sun rises,
revealing the troubled man of too many years...
