Bereft & Forlorn

Bereft & Forlorn

A Poem by Claire Lorraine

Broken

Bleeding

Sorrow

Keening

I am left in winters brush

Blanketed in dirt

Thorns bite my naked flesh

There is nothing left

Only regret

Keeps company

With the humiliation

That has kidnapped me

The stains of tears

Has long ago faded

Just as the stars

Blinked their last farewell

Now I am torn

Bereft

And

Forlorn

The short, direct lines are very effective in this sad little gem.
Well done

:) Julie

Thank you Julie :)
This structure was especially intriguing to me. And your diction as well. Thanks for this
