Damn Lovers

Damn Lovers

A Poem by Claire Deflandre

You say I am the demon in you,
I am the dark fog you’re going through.

You called me one night
Screaming my damn name,
I answered you’ll be right
There was no one to blame.

I am the demon in you,
The dark fog you’re going through.

Your thoughs were spines
You ‘ve driven in your skin
Thinking it would clear your sin.
I wished that it could clear mine.

We both knew this game we play
Would lead us to the wrong way.

Did you know that demons could have a heart,
A beating pulse in their veins ?
Now I am dying in your hands
And you’re pumping hard.

I heard you screaming my damn name
We both know there is no one to blame.
