YOU

YOU

A Poem by Claire in VA
"

I have had enough. I am done.

"

You.

You are the dung beneath horses' feet.

You cause people to stumble.

You cause them to slide and fall into the dwelling place of Lot's wife.

You'd be better off to exist as a pillar of salt.

Why don't you practice what you teach for God's sake, literally?

You are the mongrel that my grandmother warns me of when she says "if you lie with dogs, you get fleas."

Flies love dung.

Maybe you are a fly.  A female fly.

You lay your eggs everywhere.  Any chance you get.

Your regurgitation becomes you. Helps your face.

Mirrors lie. You are not what you see each morning as you shave.

You were more beautiful as a maggot, wriggling.

I don't understand, but maybe I am not supposed to.

I once thought you were wise. Resourceful.

I even thought of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith when I thought of you.

You are the epitome of failure.

You ruin your testimony.

Author's Note

Claire in VA
Some people are just unworthy of any part of us. Even our friendship. Repeatedly, we forgive and bury their actions in a sea of forgetfulness. After many attempts to befriend, we need to move on. One day they may realize they should have treated us a little better and valued our friendship. Maybe not. Even so, be the bigger person. Don't let them bring you down. Don't get fleas. :)

and may your love for me be stricken from the record...your testimony is all false statement...

You are welcome muchly...:).....
Harsh words indeed, but with even a sense of regret about a relationship that in the long run, was not worth pursuing. Some people, it seems, have the ability to enrage us, and the inability to appreciate the damage they do. It's only when we finally cut the ties forever that they have the opportunity to reflect on what brought them to this impasse. It's possible that your scorn might prompt 'You' to modify his/her behaviour, but unlikely. The leopard, they say, never changes his spots.

Very strong write. Your frustrations flowed through this piece and I could sense pain in it as well. Yes, if people are only going to bring you down, cut them out of your life. You don't want to be a sinking ship with them. Great write. (:

Well said and very understandable, As I myself know this feeling of a love a friend. Moving on is the key sometimes we cant accept it. We want the last word a prayer wont do!!!! Its true. In this mess of a body and all that is we must move on.
