One day I took Sugarfoot to the vet for a checkup. While I was there I adopted Pepe. The vet tech witnessed a heartless man throw Pepe out of his moving car window into the ditch. She brought him to the vet's office to get him the help he needed to survive his crushed ribs, broken leg, and broken tail. The poor little fellow needed another chance at happiness. He went from the pits to heaven. He now lives like a king. He is Sugarfoot's best friend. There is no dog more humble and deserving than Pepe.

I have a little dog just like the one you describe so eloquently in your poem, his name is Pablo, but I think I should have called him 'brave heart', every time I take him for a walk and we meet other dogs he he strains on the lead and barks madly at them, they might be five times his size and could probably have him for breakfast,
I guess he does not realize his limitations!
Smiling and laughing! What a sweet ode to a sweet to a precious little one. But oh, how tragic your note... so glad he's okay now.. and in his own little heaven.

Thank you Craig! He is precious; he brings me lots of happiness.
very cute. I have 10 cats and 3 dogs and all of them are rescues! There is nothing like having a pet to love who returns that love and asks for so little. I did not read any of the sad stuff that is indicated by the other comments. Mine have their own sad stories.
