BA Poem by ckaneMeningitis hitting the headlines lately it's brought back painful memories. My son is a fully recovered survivor of meningococcal meningitis. Or meningitis B. And he is my world. It quietly resigned in the body of youth Silently plotting it's relentless feud Unborn to known, it's impending threat Then it shot to life to cause merciless death Like a snake it slithered up the spine Through the veins, collapsing the vines It's claws were filled with venom and greed A poison so strong, no discrimination to creed A believer in science, so helpless, I prayed Only hope to hang on to for survival each day 'Prepare yourself' were the words softly spoken You die, I die, our world almost broken I'll never forget that shining spark That gleam of light in the darkest of darks His eye's shone to life, glaring his advance Over this blood fuled monster, my boy had his chance The fight was over, as sheer love prevailed A life so precious, his strength we all hailed Through good times and bad, it never veers from my mind How quickly it can happen, for disaster to unwind. © 2016 ckaneReviews
