Don't Wake Me Up

Don't Wake Me Up

A Poem by CitrtgoW8P

Weak legs carry my heavy frame from room to room.
I check behind every door for a sign,
Something to pull me out,
Something to pull me in.
I want to rest.
I want the shadows to coerce me into sleep.
But I'm too tired,
And the banging won't stop.
All I hear is knocking.
And I look at my hands, my knuckles
A tattered red.
The banging stops.
My body drops.
Heaped on the floor, there's nothing for me to do,
But sleep a deep and dreamless sleep.
Don't wake me up.
