October Snow

October Snow

A Poem by CitrtgoW8P

The trees are splitting at their sides
Like the object of an unusually cruel joke.
Their warm flesh becomes exposed
as they are stripped of their jagged jackets,
And they bleed all over
the freshly dusted ground.
The cold grips their limbs
and drags them to the powdered floor,
Where they are chained to the earth
which sprung them life.
Now the sky is exposed
and offers its light,
Only illuminating
our grave
mistakes.
The whiteness is not purity,
it is the ghost that haunts us
for all of our recklessness.
