Clotted Thoughts

Clotted Thoughts

A Poem by CitrtgoW8P

Don’t let your mind go

Keep it close to your heart

And its quiet pumping

Of deep red rivers

Throughout your body

There it cannot be harmed

Because the heart will protect the mind

From the forces that chase thoughts

Around and around

Until they’re too tired to stand

And collapse from weariness.

The deep thumping of the heart

Will sing the mind to sleep

In ambient darkness

No matter what creeps from the shadows.

Because the heart loves the mind

And the mind needs the heart.

The first conscious breath of each day

From the lungs to the brain

Becomes an infinite number of thoughts,

Life becomes colored in,

And you can hear the quiet thumping.
