A Poem by Caitlin

1.Remember how full your heart was?
Your surprise as I asked you,
many kind turns.
I could always hear
your safe, soft laughter
rocking me to sleep at night.
And still I dream.

Why?

2."It's quiet here tonight," she said,
her eyes were full of stars.
The whispers on the streets confirm
she never was truly yours.
The cemetary trail is dead,
no people heard or seen
His hands upon her hips evoke
she again feels like a teen.
Her lips upon his earlobe,
Her nails across his back,
She always had something with him,
something that you lack.
"I've never felt as safe" she said
"As when I was with you,"
"But times have past and proven,
that neither of us can be true".
It's years now, that she's known him,
Her life has changed and withdrawn
But those feelings that she has
were never truly gone.

3. It's a starry night secret
one viewed by only her.
Set the scene, dim the light.
All around her darkness falls
Save for a red spark in her heart,
And she dreams of icewater kisses,
there in the star numbing shadows.
What wouldn't she give for one more night
...of absinthe burning
...of skeleton embraces
It's a choose your own adventure story,
or at least that's what she was told.
There, deep in the forest,
as she pulls her jacket tighter
to keep out the chill,
and steps on her cigarette (remember kids....)
she realizes
has a grand revelation
an idea of epic proportions
that nothing really works out in the end.
