happy

happy

A Poem by Circe

happiness is caressing your hair,
peeking into your otherworldly
eyes for seconds at a time
because they are too bright
and knowing
and beautiful. ..

like your voice in my ear
and whispers against my throat
i know happinesss may seem
so simple but subtract a single
element from our formula, perhaps-

nothing
would
be
the
same

I love this, the feeling of the thoughts is so beautiful.

it is like all those simple things...put together it is a complex and beautiful feeling...take away any one...and it's not the same...it is like Bonanza without Adam...

i really like the serenity of your work...the ease with which your lines engage the reader..

I am so glad you are writing again Circe, you have an uncanny knack of being able to create such compelling and powerful impressions of experiences, situations, circumstances and events from nothing more than words and that, in my book makes you a true poet.... N

Is that fear I see before me? Is fear what stops a person from accepting flaws in another person, for thinking over-much and consequently, being proved wrong? How does one know or can be sure of.. that 'nothing would be the same'?

I get it. Subtract anything and there will be a loss of some kind. But you never said the change would be bad though. Your simple words bubble up such massive feelings. Maybe not passion, but the comfort of bliss. I liked this a lot. CD

Hi Circe. I like this very much. It's thoughtful. And while it makes nice images in my mind, I assume you have deliberately used words that suggest 'happy' is not quite nirvana or paradise. This isn't blind unreasoning happiness. Eyes that are 'too bright and knowing' and 'our formula' make one sit up. It is and remains a lyrically flowing poem but these two elements, for me, add an edge, which I'd guess you intended. The happiness is perhaps a construct, an edifice, rather than organic; and hence your closing.

I also like the layout a lot. You might smile but my love of successive one word lines goes back to A A Milne and a certain Pooh Bear - they're just so good at creating emphasis.
