this from what i think it's from? either way, it's a great piece. short, sweet, and perfectly true. whether people wnt to call it 'geeking out' or not, that's exactly what they're doing.

Exactly. We all have our own little geek factor going on. Anyone who hasn't are probably the brain dead morons who think brawn is a sufficient replacement for basic thought processes.

I was going to say something about the validity of "nerd" as an insult and then I remembered this great John Green quote that a friend showed me. "…because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff… Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’."
