Doubting One:A Poem by CindasooI once
said “I love you” And you
asked me how much; I could
not name the number- My love
is not as such. My love
for you cannot be counted Like the
waves upon the sand And
cannot be contained or held Like the
roses in your hand. My love
cannot be measured Like the
stars within the sky Or
weighed like the damnable Tears
within your eyes My love
for you is endless Like
tides slipping in and out Beyond
reason, beyond measure Beyond
the shadow of a doubt. I once
said “I love you” And you
asked me why; I could
not state a reason- I did
not want to lie. My love
for you is not because of Anything
you say or do But
started as a friendship That
blossomed, changed, and grew. My love
is not of logic Lick the
ticking of my brain But
comes to me, unbidden Like the
sweetest summer rain. I love
you without question Without
answers to be sought I love
you without reason Beyond
the shadow of a thought. I once
said “I love you” You
asked me how long; I could
not give an answer- Any
answer would be wrong. My love
cannot be ended Like the
sunset ends the day Or
forgotten like the leaves That the
breezes whisk away My love
will not be vanquished By the
mightiest of foes Or
abandoned by the wayside And left
crushed upon the snows My love
for you will persevere Like the
sweetness of the save Of
knowing that I’ll love you Beyond
the shadow of the grave. © 2013 CindasooFeatured Review
