The Unwanted

The Unwanted

A Poem by Laylani Mullane
"

Written after someone who supposedly 'loves me' basically told me she didn't want me in the family

"

Sometimes we seperate,
Or band together in a row,
We may cower or run,
But cornered and pissed we'll go toe to toe.

We're the ones no one wants,
The ones outside the norm,
We don't fit in to a mold,
And our prescence seems to cause a storm.

That's just fine.

We are the pariahs.
This world's unwanted.
You spit at us as we walk by,
But no matter how much you want us to
We'll never say die.

Some of us will cry.
Wondering how to change.
Wanting to be like everyone else,
Not treated like a dog with mange.

While other still have blood running hot.
Tiered of the scorn.
Will fight tooth and nail,
And do so, no matter if flesh, mind, or cloth is torn.

We are the pariahs,
This world's unwanted
You spit at us as we walk by,
But no matter how much you want us to
We'll never say die.

Hmmm! This is certainly a very courageous poem and very assertive too. Indeed, it is always sad when this situation comes in a supposedly close and nurturing environment. But, from the little I know in life, you will never be a pariah, an unwanted, so long as you appreciate your own values and strengths.

I really like this poem, it makes sense to me, especially this part:
'We're the ones no one wants,
The ones outside the norm,
We don't fit in to a mold,
And our prescence seems to cause a storm'

About
For me poetry is about emotion, and most of the time when I write I try not to edit too much, if at all, because I believe that it'll only dimish the emotion. For the last few years writing has helpe.. more..
