My HeroA Poem by Laylani MullaneWritten in honor of my mother, Sheryl, who died of breast cancer back in 2006.My hero is strong But now how you think. She doesn't grow to the size of King Kong, Or lift cars over her head.
Meeting her will make you stop And rethink what you thought you know. No she doesn't run at light speeds, But she did what was done by few.
Even when her bones ached and her blood flowed, She showed love completely. She gave love to those That stared and sneered secretly.
She is now gone, But what she taught me has stuck. Her love has calmed me, And kept my life from running amuck.
Good bye mother. Until again we meet, You'll always be my hero for loving me, and helping me start to stand on my own two feet. © 2008 Laylani MullaneReviews
