CrystalsA Poem by Laylani MullaneMe and a friend of mine were talking about how there are ceratin moments in our lives that we remember with perfect clarity, where we were, what were were doing.
Certain memories solidify in your mind
Crystallizing events and emotions with such clarity. The first kiss's rush of teen lust and awkward joy. The ache and grief condensing around a parent's death. Sometimes these crystals glow, Warming a broken heart with memories, Of joyful times with lost loved ones. Sometimes they pierce. Breaking open our hearts even with a memory a decade old, Of a school so close under siege. They draw forth the blood and tears. Not allowing us to forget the tragedies, nor the lessons learned. Both a blessing and a curse. The years may dim them, Fogging their surface with time and distance, But always will they be. Ready to be triggered by a thought, To bring the past to the present and drag one back.
