I Close My EyesA Poem by Laylani Mullane"Nightmares aren't always just dreams." Written for a horror contest on another site that asked us to write a children's type rhyme.I close my eyes, I say my prayers, But he is always standing there. I close my eyes, I say my prayers, But he is always standing there. Where he comes from Where he goes Is a mystery no one knows. In the darkness Of my room What once was safe is now my tomb.
I close my eyes, I say my prayers, But he is always standing there. His grin is wide His hunger deep He waits for me to go to sleep. I know I’m next My time has come My screams will be heard by none. I close my eyes, I say my prayers, But he is always standing there. © 2012 Laylani MullaneAuthor's Note
