Joondalup In The RainA Poem by peter DugganWalking in the rain by Joondalup LakeJoondalup in the rain
The rain is falling heavily I am walking by the lake It’s a walk I take with each new day I do it for my health’s sake Walking in the rain, to me Is the grandest thing to do With everything all wet, and gleaming Making morning fresh, and new
I hear my two feet scrape along As I walk along this trail The rain comes down with such sweet rhythm I am living in the now As trees become to be much greener And the grass more soft, and velvet The birds fly into leafy trees Bedraggled, tired and wet
I stop and watch the restless lake Filled with ducks, and other birds The rain makes patterns on its surface Oh, how my heart is stirred By the lonely caw of a big black raven As he flies into the rain His aloneness filling all my being In this wet, Lakeland terrain © 2019 peter DugganReviews
