Morning Delight

Morning Delight

A Poem by peter Duggan
"

Walking by a sparkling lake

"

Morning Delight

I walk the trail to Joondalup

All lined with crazy trees

Bent and gnarled and twisted

With a kind of mystery

You’d find within a fairy tale

How they hug this wetland trail

In the whisper of new born day

As I go on my way

The lake it shimmers there beside me

As the sun it beams so brightly

Reflected in the peaceful waters

Its patterns do delight me

At times it sparks a thousand gems

Beneath that morning sun

Trees, they dance in the cooling breeze

As they sway, my mind goes numb

Magpies warble, parrots screech

 And cicadas play their song

As willy-wagtail twitters gaily

And I feel that I belong

To this clear lake, and soothing sun

And those swaying dancing trees

As it flows along amazingly

On the breath of the morning breeze
