It’s just something I write

It’s a gift given to me

The same as all the others

It’s just the way things be

So why get egotistical

The way that many do

It’s just part of your nature

Have you ever thought this through?

 

Everybody has a gift

It’s really no big deal

So why spend so much effort

Climbing up the wheel

You’re just a human being

Someday you’re going to die

Then where goes your ego?

As your shell in death does lie

 

Even when folk tell you

That you’re so very good

Don’t take it all so seriously

There is much likelihood

Those comments don’t mean nothing

It’s just folk trying to earn

Good comments. This is what they do

For praise, they too do yearn
