Not So Long Ago

Once upon a time, my friends

Was not so long ago

Me I wanted everything

Needed my life to glow

I desired to be a person

Who folk would place on high

Oh, lord I wanted everything

Though I never wondered why

I wrote my share of poems and songs

And had a need to know

I searched for sweet enlightenment

I had a need to grow

In my ego I was lost

I had to be on top

Always it was of me I'd think

My mind it would not stop.

Right now these things have gone away

All desires they have gone

I'm just so happy to be me

The old me could not go on

I love to do my meditation

But not to find something

I love to be in love with joy

No Matter what life brings

How beautiful to just be me

With all greed gone away

I get up each new day that's born

Whether sky is blue, or grey

oh, yes to find that peace of mind

It is so beautiful

I don't want to be anything

I guess I have it all.
