As I Was Walking

As I Was Walking

A Poem by peter Duggan
"

All about the beauty of life

As I Was Walking.

As I was walking down by the river

I heard the rich and gentle sounds of love

I felt it all around

From the heavens to the ground

Me thinks I heard those angels up above.

The birds were singing love from all the treetops

I could feel their very softness all around.

These creatures knew no hate

And life for them seemed great

With only love such joy is to be found.

The trees were dancing gently in the sunlight

Their sparkling hues so vivid to my sight

The day looked wise and kind

Such joy was in my mind

As I saw their many colours in the light.

And as I saw such goodness all around me

The self- importance left my petty mind

As I felt so very small

And as I now recall

I realized that I have been so blind.

This knowledge I had found it felt so sacred

You’ll never find it in those dusty books

Yet it be all around

It’s there it can be found

If you’d only dip within and take a look.
