Bring Back The MelodyA Poem by peter DugganBringing back the beauty of the melodyBring back the melody
Bring back that lovely music That I listened to before When songs had lovely melodies That seeped into my core When I could lift my voice and sing To heaven up above With Peter, Paul and Mary Their music I did love.
I remember when a kid When the great E came along He always sang those melodies Those pretty kind of songs With that lovely voice of his That sent chills down my spine And every song had a lovely tune That made me feel so fine
Now all we get is walls of noise And lots and lots of chords The kids, they call it music They think they’ve got us fooled But it all goes round in circles One day I’ll hear again Those lovely songs with melody That eased my childhood pain. © 2018 peter Duggan |
