The Rebellion In My SoulA Poem by peter DugganJust the way I am
The Rebellion In My soul
They come out with such nonsense Bout what you’re supposed to be And how you have to live your life But it don’t set well with me To fit in with society It’s best to play it their way Yet if you want your freedom Then you must have your say
They speak about humility And being meek and mild But some folk they aren’t like that And live their lives quite wild They tell you not to steal, or kill But what if you are forced to They say ‘you must love mum and dad’ But this some cannot do
Their truth’s are from an old book Where dictator runs the show In it there’s no democracy His way you have to go And if you do not like the deal Then bad luck. You’re off to Hell You only go to Heaven If you play his game real well
Well me, I made up my own mind So very long ago To always go my own way And me I just don’t know Where I’ll go when I am dead It could be anywhere But now I live within this now About the future I don’t care © 2018 peter Duggan |
