The moment.A Poem by Lana BimbiModeled on another poem who's title and author has been forgotten, my English teacher asked for us to re-write this love story into our own.Panic seeps its way through my veins, questions bubbling through my mind. When he arrives the bubbles subside, but the butterflies continue to flutter as I wave goodbye to mother. Like a magnet, our bodies and so too our minds attract. Intertwining his fingers with mine, we dance The beating of my heart acting as the beat to the song that engulfs the atmosphere surrounding us. Returning home, he leaves me with a kiss and memories that will last forevermore. Mother greets me with a smile as the questions purse themselves behind her clenched teeth. I tell her of the night, trying to suppress the giggling schoolgirl that is now merely a shadow of the young woman I feel I have become. I bite my tongue, not wanting to say too much yet at the same time there is so much to tell. As we make our way through the rain-drentched 1:00am streets, I have never felt so alive. This is my moment. Poised on the edge of flight I wish nothing more than for time to stand still. For even though it is night, it feels as though the sun has just consumed my heart and soul.
