Fear.

Fear.

A Poem by Lana Bimbi

Head underwater, gasping for air
Up in the clouds, nothing to land on up there.
It's hard to describe,
but it's like you are frozen.
You try to escape,
but your mind doesn't open.
You can feel your heart,
and it's beating fast.
Time seems to stand still,
and your nerves shatter like glass.
As your knees begin to buckle,
and your palms begin to sweat-
the violent thumping still
can be felt from your chest.
You're scared and alone,
you don't know what to do,
you begin to wonder why
this fear is unique to you.
There's a ringing to your left
and you awake with a start.
It may have been a nightmare,
but the fear longer lasts.
