![]() VivianaA Chapter by Cheyenne![]() NExt chapter it goes kinda fast but not too much :) its probably not my best one but i hope you enjoy it either way. Still no title :( HELP!!![]() Viviana “Thank you for driving me.” I say to Paol when we reach his car. “I wasn’t going to let you walk this late at night! “It’s no more dangerous than my entire family on a special occasion. I can promise you that!!” “Ha-ha that’s funny!! Besides if I hadn’t offered to drive you my parents would have been angry.” “Oh I see you just didn’t want to get in trouble.” I tease him. “Not at all. I’m sorry about my mother.” “I like her!! Don’t be sorry.” “You’re sure? Because she is a bit overwhelming sometimes.” “I’m sure I promise. Your mom is just very protective of her little boy as she should be.” “If you say so.” “I think I should be a little jealous though!” “Why on earth would you be jealous?” “Rosalia.” “What!?!” “She has you wrapped around her brazen little finger!!” He laughs. “You’re probably right. I adore Rosie though; she’s like my number one girl!” That’s so cute! She’s freaking adorable.” “Thank you she gets it all from me!!” “Oh whatever!” I laugh. “Well here we are.” He says pulling up in front of my house. “Yep.” I watch as he leaves the car to open the door for me. “Thank you.” “Your welcome.” “Walk me to the house?” “Of course.” His voice is sweet and serene. We walk to my front door silently in the crisp January air. “So will you be at school tomorrow?” He asks me. “Yes I’m going to be there a little late though.” “Okay.” “Good night Paol.” “Good night Viviana.” I hug him and as we pull away his eyes lock with mine. I mean to kiss his cheek, but instead we somehow maneuver ourselves at the same time to hit each others lips. It’s not a passionate kiss just simple and sweet. His arm wraps around my waist, and what seems like hours later we pull away from each other. In actuality it was probably about a three minute kiss. My cheeks are so warm from all the blood rushing to them. I’m glad I have the cover of darkness to hide it. “Can I have your number?” “Uh sure.” I reply to him hoping I can actually remember it. “It’s 212-560-8250.” When he finishes typing in the number he smiles this adorable smile at me. I smile back. “Okay bye I’ll see you tomorrow.” “Bye.” I whisper barely audible. “I walk into the house almost floating. This day started out dreadfully hard, but the rest was a lot of fun. I got to spend much needed time with my family only I wish that it wasn’t something like this that brought us together. Then Paol came along and made it even better. Paol is absolutely wonderful! So is his family. I love Rosie already. Jonnie his mother is hilarious and I hope to see her soon again, and his father Romeo is very soft spoken but is stern when needed. He and Paol are so much alike. Just moments ago as we stood on my doorstep and, hugged and kissed I never wanted it to end. “Viviana is that you?” I hear papas voice. “Yes papa.” “Okay. Come here for a second.” “Hey papa, mama.” “Hi dear.” Mama says. “How was your time with Paol?” “It was lots of fun. I met his family, his mothers name is Jonnie and his fathers name is Romeo.” “Any siblings?” “Yes one sister her name is Rosalia she’s three.” “Such a small family.” Papa tells us. “I know but they are great people.” “We’d love to meet them sometime seeing as this boy is your boyfriend.” “Papa he is not!!!” “You should see the look on your face!!” he says while him and mama crack up. I roll my eyes. “I’m going to bed love you goodnight.” “Goodnight.” Their voices carry to me still cracking up. I’m glad that our family is still somewhat normal after our scenario today. But I know somewhere deep inside it’s killing everyone to put on a charade for me. I only realize how tired I am after I get dressed and fall into bed. Sleep isn’t my friend tonight though. “Vivi are you awake?” “Hmmm.” “Vivi?” The voice is a whisper. I open my eyes to see who it is. This small frame of a child is standing at my door it’s Alessandro holding his favorite teddy bear. “What’s wrong Sandro?” “Can I sleep with you?” “Why baby?” “So to make sure you don’t scratch the itchy things.” A tired smile comes to my mouth and I chuckle. “Of course Sandro come on.” I lift the covers for him to climb into bed with me. He’s in dinosaur footie pajamas they’re adorable. “Vivi?” “Mmhmm?” “Do you like that boy?” “Yes I do Sandro I like that boy a lot.” “You still like me don’t you?” “Alessandro I don’t just like you I love you with all my heart.” “Okay.” He says falling asleep just minutes later. Sleep won’t come easily to me tonight. I get up to take one of the sleeping pills the doctor prescribed. As I quietly walk to the bathroom I hear mama and papa downstairs. I creep toward the stairwell and watch them in the living room. Mama is sobbing into papas shoulder while he holds her tears rolling down his cheeks. My heart slowly starts to break in a million little pieces. I go back upstairs take my pill and climb into bed. I cry as I lay there watching Alessandro’s small body breathe. He’s the picture of innocence and I wonder that when I’m gone he’ll understand any of it. “Chiata, Alessandro wake up.” Mama comes into the door. “What time is my appointment mama?” “It’s at eight.” “Okay. Come on Sandro wake up, mama is gonna take you to get ready.” Mama walks over and picks him up. I grab my towel to go and get in the shower. Lucetta and MariaBella wait outside of the door in their robes. “What are you to waiting for?” “You can get in first…. Take as long as you want.” MariaBella tells me. “Why I mean….” Then it hits me they are letting me go because I have a brain tumor mama probably told them to be nicer to me. I’m furious but don’t let on. “Okay thanks.” Twenty minutes later I’m dressed and ready to eat breakfast. It goes by much more quiet than it usually would. As soon as they finish breakfast the older kids leave with Sandro taking him to school today. “Okay Viviana I’m going to go get dressed I’ll be back down soon.” Grandma makes her way down the stairs. “Good morning Bella tresarina.” In Italian that means beautiful treasure. “Good morning grandma.” “How you feeling?” “Fine right now.” “You know I knew.” “Knew what grandma?” “You or Stephano would be sickly.” “Really how.” “When you were first born you and he were so small, so quiet. Much too quiet.” “Oh.” “Back in my day that meant something bad.” “I guess it still does.” “Yes, so you I sometimes am write. I love you Viviana.” “I love you too.” Mama comes down the stairs then. “Come on Viv lets go.” “Okay mama bye grandma.” “Bye-bye dear.” The ride to the radiologist is about twenty minute long, and it was entirely silent on the way there. When we arrive mama fills out a couple forms. After a half hour or so a nurse come and and calls us to the back. “Hi! I’m Spencer and I’ll be your nurse today.” Unusually chipper. “Hello I reply to her.” Mama smiles politely at her. “Now which one of you is Viviana?” “That would be me.” “Okay and you’re here for a second opinion on a brain tumor.” “Yes" mama cuts in. “And you’re her mother?” “Yes.” WE get more X-rays done which took about twenty minutes, then we’re sent to a room where we are awaiting the results. Another twenty minutes passes. A knock comes at the door and a doctor walks in. A doctor who can’t be more than twenty-seven or twenty-eight. He is African-American and very handsome. “Hi there, I’m Caleb Elias the doctor who checked out your x-rays.” “Hi.” Mama greets him. I can tell she’s skeptical because of his age. “hey.” This is my response. Well your tests look the same as the ones taken at the hospital you went to.” “So there’s nothing we can do.” “No ma’am what I’ll tell you is the same thing the other doctor told you.” “Mama don’t cry I’m fine.” “No your not.” She says tears streaking her face. “I’m sorry.” She says wiping her eyes. “It’s just so hard to think that my child may die before me.” “I can only imagine your pain.” “Thank you so much.” I say giving him a weak smile. “Come on mama lets go.” I drive myself to school, and kiss mama on the cheek while I get out. “Hi Viviana your in Social studies right now.” The receptionist tells me. “You guys just went to passing time.” “Okay.” I take my pass and leave the office. I’m searching hallways for Stephano. But instead my eyes wander to the exact place Paol is standing. He is staring at me intently. I walk over to him willing myself not to trip. “Hi.” He says gazing into my eyes. “Hi.” “I’m glad you’re finally here.” He says hugging me. “So am I.” I return the embrace. “Come with me to my locker.” “okay.” He walks by my side keeping pace easily. I quickly put my things into my locker and get the ones I need out. The halls are starting to clear. “We have to hurry to class.” The bell rings about five seconds after we get through the door. Mr. Sones isnt here luckily. Social studies passes with a cloud of tediousness over it. I’m getting this stare from Mia that is angry and in awe at the same time. Paol sits next to me not noticing. Her face says “OH MY GOD.” I get the same stare from her in the next two classes. I mouth to her “Lunch.” Finally lunch comes around. Paol walks up beside me on the way there. “Do you want to sit together?” “Of course but give me ten minutes I have to talk to Mia about something.” “Will do.” He smiles walking away. “Get ready for the bombardment.” I look to see what he’s talking about. Mia is literally running over to me. “OH MY GOD VIVIANA!!!” “What?” “Paol why, how, when, where? I give her the short version of last night. Her mood darkens as I go on. She is making me extremely mad. I cut the conversation short. “Hey I’m gonna go sit with Paol, we’ll finish talking later.” “Okay.” Walking to the table I can feel the mournful stares of boys following. I’ll never know what their interest in me is. The hateful stares of girls aren’t even piercing my back though. I pull out a chair and sit in front of him. “Are you enjoying lunch?” “Yes very much now that you’re here. But I think its my turn to be jealous.” “Why?” “All the boys hate me already because I stole their precious beauty out of the way.” “Your probably right.” I say laughing. “None of them interest me though.” “Glad to know it! What are you doing after school?” “Nothing just homework.” “Wanna go somewhere for a little while.” “Okay.” After school I meet Paol at the front of the school as promised. We go to one of my favorite cafes, and sit there and talk for hours about everything. The next two weeks pass with the two of us learning everything about each other. Every subject has been touched. From favorite child hood memories and first kisses to family history. The one piece of information I don’t volunteer is the fact that I have a brain tumor. © 2010 CheyenneAuthor's Note
