I said something to you today
 and I know you must have heard;
  I felt the answer in my heart
 although you spoke no word.

  Nothing of wealth or fame,
 I knew you would not mind;
  I asked you to send treasures
 of a far more lasting kind.

  I asked that I be near you
 at the start of each new day,
  To grant us smiles and happiness
 and new friends to share our way.

  I asked for love from you
 in all things great and small,
  But it was for your loving care
 I asked for most of all.
