A Clever Hidden Nightmare

A Clever Hidden Nightmare

A Poem by Chrys

A Clever Hidden Nightmare

Can never choose the way I feel

If it seems safe, it can’t be real

Brilliant light turns evil dark

If, even subtle, burns a spark

Instincts sharp, must stay clear

This paralyzing, perfect fear

Control suddenly is obsolete

Feel the terror; bittersweet

Trigger finger trembles slight

Consumes me slowly, constructing fright

So as I cross my heart and hope

I’ll wear this mask, but carry rope

In this disguise I’ll fool them all

No one will know, until I fall

This is great too! My favorite lines..."This paralyzing, perfect fear" and "I’ll wear this mask, but carry rope". Good work!
