Lucien’s POV

I examine the music score I had written, clenching it fervently in my hand.

It was a new song I wrote. For Esteire and Elisabeth. Or, at least that’s what I lead myself to believe so.

I close my eyes. They dance with reflections of a girl with long, ebony hair and luminous, azure eyes. When I reach out, she billows away and vanishes.

I open my eyes. The same image as last time; the same result.

Admonishing myself, I proceed to the door and scan the corridors. No sign of her yet.

I sigh to myself. What am I, a stalker?

Soon enough, she arrives. With her sister. Shoot! No wait, what am I saying? It’s for both of them!

“Welcome to the music club!” I greet the sisters.

“Hello Lucien,” says Esteire followed by Elisabeth.

Andy, who’s leaning against the wall, pipes up, “Hey, you’re both here! Let’s get the party started!”

I furtively glare at him. He never said ‘both’.

“Hi there!” says a voice behind me. Esteire and Elisabeth both look around me. I get out of the way.

“I’m Violet! Nice to meet you!” Violet introduces herself.

“Esteire. And this is my sister, Elisa.”

“Hi,” Elisabeth waves.

Violet grabs the two of them and speeds off, stealing our audience.

“Hey!” Andy and I cry out.

She winks at us.

Looks like Violet has found some candidates. We both trail after her.

“Is there something you want to show us?” questioned Elisabeth.

Well, yes,” started Violet slyly, “but I was also hoping you might like to join the club!”

Elisabeth nearly shot up from her seat.

“Ah! Why, no! I’m just fine thank you very much! I’m already in the Student Council, anyway,” she says motioning her hand.

Violet made a puppy face, “Pwretty please?”

I almost laughed. It was hilarious watching Violet beg. She’s been in the club since freshman year, but this year unfortunately, there were a lack of good female singers.

“I’m sure you have a beautiful voice,” she persisted. Then she zeroed in on Esteire, “I bet Esteire would join!”

“Huh? What ever made you think that?” says Esteire, trying to back away from Violet’s killer puppy dog attack.

“I know!” Violet proclaims, “why don’t we all sing together?”

Esteire raised an eyebrow, suspicious. I chuckled in spite of myself.

Violet began with the first note; she’s always had a lovely voice.

She hands them some lyrics.

“Faithfully?” Elisa reads.

I stiffen. Why’d she have to chose that song?

Violet bobs her head and sings,

“Highway run

Into the midnight sun

Wheels go round and round

You’re on my mind...”

I couldn’t help it, I joined in, “Restless hearts...”

Soon, everyone in the music club pitched in. It was a beautiful harmony.

Sleep alone tonight

Sending all my love along the wire

They say that the road ain’t no place to start a family

Right down the line it’s been you and me

And loving a music man ain’t always what it’s supposed to be

Oh Girl

You stand by me

I’m forever yours...

That’s when I heard two awe-inspiring sounds kick in.

It was Esteire and Elisabeth.

Together, we all sang, “Faithfully.”

Elisabeth’s timbre was higher than Esteire’s; she being a soprano and her being an alto. However, her soprano wasn’t ridiculously high, just perfect, like the alto of her sister.

Mikael got out his electric guitar, Andy his drums and Eren his piano; this was a perfect song for some awesome instrumentals.

We sounded better than we had ever been since the beginning of music club.

At the song’s completion, I knew we had to get them to join. Violet thought the same.

“Oh my gosh!” she squealed, “You both have amazing voices! You HAVE to join!”

They laugh. “Well, I guess.”

Thrilled, she jumped on them, hugging them like plush animals.

“Whoa there!” Esteire giggles.

“Yeah! Cut it out, Violet!” chimes in Elisabeth.

And that was when we decided to use Faithfully by Journey for the Talent Show, even though it was a whiles away.

“Oh! Luce! You wanted to show them something, right?” Violet asks, back to her usual self without the weight of needing better singers.

Attempting to conceal my blushing I responded looking away, “Um, yeah.”

“Let’s hear it!” entreats Violet and adds to the girls, “Luce is a really good at drafting songs.”

Jittery at first, I soon ease into it.

First saw them standing by the classroom’s doors

Wondering what to do

So I walked up to welcome them

And that’s when I saw

They were two shades of one colour

Different, yet the same through and by

One as deep as the ocean

The other lofty as the skies

Two shades of one colour

Beautiful blues

Ohhh Ahhhhh Ah

It’s true

I fell for those two

Two same colours

One was as dark as the night but as bright as moonlight

The other was heaven hit earth

Didn’t know who to choose

So I chose

Both

Ohhh Ahhhhh Ah

It’s true

I fell for those two

Two same colours

Ohhh Ahhhhh Ah

It’s true

Fell for that one colour...

I lift my eyes to look at them. When I was just about to meet her gaze, Kael assails me.

“Luce! Who said you could go write a love song and then sing it?” mocks Kael playfully.

“Agh! Get off me!” I declare, shoving him off me. “It’s not a love song, stupid!” I retort.

He snickers.

“Man,” says Andy in a drawn out tone, “that was some good tunes.”

I clout him lightly with the back of my hand. He starts laughing too.

“That was wonderful, Luce,” compliments Violet, “I wish you wrote one about me too.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” I divert.

“Nu-uh; you can’t fool us!” she wags her finger at me.

“It could’ve very well been about Andy and Nico,” I state. I’m not sure why I was trying to evade the mention of the sisters.

“Dude, you wrote a song for us? That’s totally sweet of you!” Andy smacks my back. Nico starts cracking up at his brother. Those two.

“It was lovely, thank you,” Esteire finally says.

“Mm; I really enjoyed your singing,” agrees Elisabeth.

I smile in reply.
