Drained

Drained

A Poem by Christopher_Myles

The city has drained me.
And not in the way I was hoping for.
Drained of life with the hard and bony skeleton to show.
The rocky foundation of a basic self. Cold calculating.
These things are necessary, but they are not all.
When they become all… We have a problem.
It means that when I collide with you, there will be fractures. There may not be love… Only pain…
There is not time or a place to cultivate the fleshy excess that keeps us soft and safe in each others embrace.
