MY LIFE HAS NO STREET

All streets are dead ends,

When you have no friends;

I just want a slice of hope

Or someone to help me cope.

I might have fallen away

From whom I was, yesterday;

Not knowing where to begin

Or, even, I can be alive again.

Can you see me, at all,

Or have I become so small;

My life has no street,

Just the alley of defeat.

Your words are needed. Too many people don't want to see the poor. In this Obama job bill. How about new low budget housing and create places for people to get help in re-building a life. The old people pay the price. Taxing their income and less benefits. Cut the 1.2 billion on war. Stop giving loan to B.S companies who stole the money and are gone. 530 million dollars lost last week could save a city like Detroit if spend correctly. Thank you for the poem. Many do help the poor. So many that the organizations can't keep up. A excellent poem.

This is full of emotion and empathy well done! It is a sad state most countries are in with large populations of homeless people.

yes, this is a hopeless, helpless, hapless situation...

but alas...they get lost in the cracks of the concrete..

and no one cares...and now many of us living on the edge, paycheck to paycheck are feeling inclined (not by our own doing) of joining them

hope someone saves a cardboard box for me...may need it.

every thanksgiving at this catholic center we do a dinner for the locals...mostly homeless, they get to have at least one good meal...but it isn't enough..

i help serve every year...and the same faces appear over and over again..they just can't get a break and get out of the streets.

poignant poem...

Very well written piece.
Choice of words is great.
Impressed by the lines:
"My life has no street,
Just the alley of defeat."

Great poem. The subject and the sentiment behind it are spot on and the execution is great, very poetic, esp those last two lines. I like the way the penultimate line echoes the headline and sets up the killer last line. Great stuff.

So many people need help, and yet corporations get government payments so they can make bigger profits, and this country continues to make war. I say, the money should go to those that need it, no questions asked. No society is working properly until everyone is taken care of. Oh, I wish I could help all homeless. An excellent poem.

Today we must do more. One in six people are hungry in the USA. We live in a hell of a Government. Will sent Soldiers to be policeman for the cost of 1.2 trillion dollars. Allow their people to go hungry. here in Michigan. Most shelters are ran by volunteers and donations. I agree with your Author's note. We must do what we can.
