Mixed Nuts

Mixed Nuts

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg
"

I'm looking for Mr. Peanut!

"

Mixed Nuts

I keep looking for Mr. Peanut

And keep ending up with mixed nuts.

It must be the very guy thing,

Trying to seem like really something,

When, in fact, they are a bunch of nuts

With little or no true guts.

I don't want someone to fight for me

Or someone afraid to let me be free;

I want someone to stand beside me

And not act like a crazy piece of jealousy.

I keep looking for Mr. Peanuts

And keep ending up with mixed nuts.

We women don't want a jellyfish

Or a man to give us our every wish;

We want someone, whom can stand alone,

And to be someone we can depend upon.

I am sure you are the world's best lover;

Can you stand up to day, night being over;

I want you to take my fragile hand

And lead me around like a true man.

I keep looking for Mr. Peanuts

And keep ending up with mixed nuts.

I don't want to be haunted by your dead lover

Or to be judged by your children's mother;

I don't care that you have a duty to your mom;

Maybe, you should just want to live alone.

I've been through so many dated men

And couldn't, even, find a good friend;

What goes wrong with the manly men;

Have they all, simply, gone insane?

I keep looking for Mr. Peanuts

And keep ending up with mixed nuts.

You tell it in an entertaining way, but I know this problem is common and wide-spread. My late brother's widow is on the same hunt, and coming up with mixed nuts or worse. It embarrasses me how messed-up so many men are. I know it works both ways, but somehow, I suspect that guys are more problematic than women, generally speaking.

Your play on words is so funny, insightful and delightful.

The ending image of mixed nuts offered a different perspective; how the nutty do not subscribe to any breed - it lies within every human the probability to be nutty and go nutty to find or tolerate someone who is not too intensely mixed within the nuttiness lol

Well, I believe all good things come from a good source. Courage is a good thing only if it stands for something good. An evil man might well defend his wickedness as strongly as a faithful man might defend his integrity. They are not the same. A lazy man might work very hard at getting out of work...you see what I mean. My advice is examine the motives which drive a man's proclivities and you will find that good water flows from a pure stream and good fruit comes from a healthy tree. Every time I stand up for myself someone takes my chair! (laughing) I wish you success in your search dear. I've given up on finding love from an understanding woman. But I find other things to occupy my thoughts.

But if most men are nuts, Christina (an assertion I certainly do NOT challenge!), what do you suppose drove them to that state? Women who want to date the rebellious, bad-boy types, but marry someone predictable and responsible? Women who claim to want honesty, but flee in horror (or dissolve in tears) the first time you speak honestly to them...about anything ((aloud) "Of course not, my dear, those jeans do NOT make your a*s look fat...(unspoken) "Your a*s looks fat no matter what you wear!")
As a percentile, I do NOT categorically believe that men are the sorrier lot, or the crazier, but ARE definitely less expert at concealing heir inanities. But if we're nuts, and you're caramel, we can contrive a real nice Snicker between us!

I think the problem is that you just don`t
want to go through the whole can.
The peanut is in there, you just give up
too easy.
Maybe a little more investment on your part
would give you a better selection.
Dress better, join more expensive groups.
Betcha you would come up with a peanut in
very short order.
Enjoyed your poem, You write good.

All of the Mr. Peanuts have simply vanished from the earth. Hard to find a good one anymore. Hey Christina, I have a Mr. Peanut bank, from way back when. Guess what, its empty. Do you suppose that is a sign of some kind? LOL

Very well done. I first thought about the movie Mixed Nuts and so that was my reason for clicking but then reading your poem made the movie pale in comparison. This was done creatively well.
