I Love Lucy, Too

I Love Lucy, Too

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg
"

Something that has been racing around in my head, for years, a take on the "I Love Lucy Theme Song" by Desi Arnaz.

"

THE FARMER

DESI ARNAZ

I love Lucy and she loves me.

I love Lucy, who always stands beside me.

We're as happy as two can be.

We're as close as two can be.

Sometimes we quarrel, but then

Eye to eye we don't always see, but then

How we love making up again.

That sweet old girl befriends me, again.

Lucy kisses like no one can.

Lucy obeys like no woman can.

She's my misses and I'm her man.

She's my friend and I'm her man.

And, life is heaven, you see,

Our lives are heavenly, you see,

'Cause I love Lucy; yes, I love Lucy

Because I really love old Lucy

And Lucy loves me.

And I believe that Lucy loves me.

Love is a light that shines forever,

Their love light will shine forever!

Even between a dog and a farmer.

Love comes in many packages, because man is meant to love and be loved!

It's amazing how love remains the same, no matter where it is directed. Desi Arnaz spoke volumes about love and its ups and downs in his song for his wife, Lucille Ball!

I still can remember watching those wonderful episodes of a "crazy" wife with a zest for life. She truly was a brilliant comedienne who gave us so many years of laughter. Your poem was a great tribute of love and the distance two people can travel on the journey called love. Great write, a joy to read.

I like the comparison of the farmer and his Lucy and how love comes in many packages. So very true, whether man or animal.

I grew up watching her zany antics when I was a child, a true ode to an endless love. Well done....

Wonderful! I didn't know about this song, and I love the parallels :) Universal language is love :)

Love how you put them side by side. It is like looking at two universes soon to marry. Beautifully done.
