The Fire that has Burned, For Ten Years

9-11 will burn me, until I die!

The Fire that has Burned, For Ten Years

There was a fire,

Ten years ago

And it still burns, today;

It burned a city so deeply

That millions cried, in the street,

In a city that never sleeps.

There was a fire,

Ten years ago

And it still burns, today;

It burned a country so deeply

That millions cried, in the street,

Awoken from their sleep.

There was a fire,

Ten years ago

And it still burns, today;

It burned me so deeply

That I cried millions of tears,

Awaken from my sleep.

There was a fire,

Ten years ago

And it still burns, today;

It burned our hearts so deeply

That it lit up every street,

Awaken from our sleep.

What kind of creature has man become?!

I chose not to add a picture of their destruction, but a picture of when all were alive!!

A fantastic write capturing the emotions and I too remember where I was...in school... and like thinking why is the Physics teacher turning the TV on (never played TV usually) and then slowly the significance of the event and the world and the human reactions from all people concerned post 9/11 began to tell me much more about human behaviour etc.... Fantastic write :)

man has become a destructive creature...only now he is more destructive, and all we can do is hope and pray for a change...nice work on this poetic tribute...

There is a fire... oh yes... and it still burns... Thank you for showing us... May we rise in this generation and show what humanity should be... not what we have been... Let love and life be prized treasures. Powerfully spoken, my friend.

We need to keep a place in our hearts for the victims of this horrific tragedy and pray nothing like this happens again. Lets hope the greiving families will someday be able to move on with their lives. We must never forget all of the people (fireman and other first responders) that were there after the tragedy to help but now have many health problems from the dusts and chemicals in the air and phycological problems they endure because of what they saw.

Obviously, pays tribute to those affected to the 9/11 tragedy. A nice format you used with repetition.

I do not think a single person can forget that horrific day. Americans will always remember where they were the minute the terrible tragedy unfolded. I was younger than I am now, though in a way we all were, and I remember being at work when news broke over the radio. I was numb and unsure how to act or what to do. I didn't want to think this could be happening but most Americans believed something like that would never happen on their native soil. Powerful write.

The fire will always burn for so many. Will we ever be reminded of the scars we've created and change? Or will we always continue to create new wounds?
