The Crawl SpaceA Poem by Christina May ShanabergA mother at her wit's end!THE CRAWL SPACE
I awoke to daymares And tried to make matters right; Had there been nightmares Or mind monsters, in the night; The children were screaming, Blaming me for lost shoes; The husband was steaming About the morning's bad news; What had happened after A sweet, sincere "good night;" Was it that their laughter Turned into a pile of spite; I am a wife and mother Whom hates mornings like this; Some way or another I want to cease to exist; I run onto the lawn Wanting to float into space, Because I hadn't had time to yawn, In this crazy place; I looked at the house, Wiping tears from my face; I tried to turn into a mouse And hide in the crawl space.
