Toadus

Toadus

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg
"

For Toadus, my friend for a couple years, during my childhood!

"

TOADUS

At night, you make alot of noise;

Your back is covered with warts;

You're more fun than any toys,

Because love flows, deep, in toady hearts;

I don't want to capture you;

I want you to, always, be free

To do the things you like to do

And to stop by and visit me;

You hop, bravely, up to my giant shoe

And respond, sweetly, when I pet you;

People ask, "Is this the toad you knew;

"Do you know that he's not sometoad new;"

Of course, I know all your ways

And your path 'round the old oak;

I know where you spend the days;

Oh, my friend, never croak.

I really loved that toad!!

Additionally on May 27, 2010, after my mother's (Susie Q) review. She was in a wheelchair, during my senior year in high school, following a very bad car crash. I would carry gingersnaps in my pocket to school (they don't make too many crumbs) and, since I knew all the dogs that ran lose on my way home from the bus, I would get them to follow me home (they really love gingersnaps.) Sometimes, I would have a gang of near a dozen or more. My mother would watch for me coming down the street with my gang.

This is very cute, so very adorable. I've always been partial to frogs for pets as a child but I never captured them either, I just wanted to play with them outside and then let them go back to their lives. This was very well written and ever so sweet. The only thing I have to critique is "alot" is actually two words and I'm curious it "sometoad" is meant to be one word? Other than that, very good poem!

Pets make the best friends... what a very sweet little tribute. I had hamsters myself.

A wonderfully fanciful poem that puts a smile on one's face. At least you did not try to kiss him and turn him into a Prince. That is how my wife got stuck with me.
Nice work!!
