WHAT MONEY BUYS

I love my rich boyfriend;

He buys me such nice things;

He really knows how to spend;

Gourmet meals and diamond rings;

He comes to call with roses, too,

And takes me to the best shows;

I never want for fresh and new;

What I want he always knows.

I miss my wonderful boyfriend;

He has moved on to other things;

I have lost my lover and best friend

To someone he gives sweet nothings;

He called to say that he'd moved on

To a lady who appreciates the best;

He had found someone to count upon,

Because what money buys can't last.

So very true. I found the first stanza very comical, as though it were mocking those people who do only get into relationships for money. In the end, it is sad that they lose the relationship if they actually did like the person and merely got caught up in the wealth, but I feel that this poem is more of a satire on these people and that they should get their priorities straight or they'll end up losing everything that truly matters. Either or, very good poem, well done.

money is not happiness, love is not measure in bank accounts...I liked the first stanza and it's materialism, but the poem as a whole is thought provoking, Nice poem Christina...

Money doesn't bring all the greatest things in life. Money is a devils way to make you sin and most of the time that is where people perfer to go cause they thing money is the only thing that matters. I love how you put this it was definately moving can't wait to read more.

Money definitely isn't everything. Moved on to a lady who appreciates the best. Sounds like the first one didn't know what she had. This is what we get when we worship material things

This is penned very well with a sad theme about those with money who often only want fun and don't care about true love. Great message that money is not as important as true love. Nicely done.

That's right money can never compare to true love and you often don't know what you got till it's gone. A powerful message here.
