Someone in this Picture

Someone in this Picture

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg
"

Written for my estranged son, Dennis Shanaberg!

"

SOMEONE IN THIS PICTURE

Someone in this picture

Is lying;

Could it be that the truth

Was a lie;

Could it be that the lie

Was true;

Someone in this picture

Is lying;

Now, I am the judge

Of the truth;

I am not listening,

Anymore;

I am deciding what

Is true;

I can listen with

My own ears;

I can see with

These eyes;

I can, finally, say

This is true

And, unfortunately, that

Was a lie;

I can know in

My heart

And, maybe, my world

Will change;

There is something wrong

With this picture

And I will search to

Find what.

Our kids...!!!??? Wonderful write. You get your concern and frustration across quite well. Always trying to figure out what's going on and where it went wrong. I think most parents, especially of older children, will really appreciate this write. Well done.

I like the structure of this piece a lot. There is an aura of mystery surrounding the title and common phrase of this piece. It definitely keeps the reader reading it. nice job.

Excellent poem, clearly stated. We all have a very unclear pictures and we all are going to try and figure it out. I love how your words were put. Thank you.

I love the clarity of this writing. The message is very clear. I'm just not sure that I would appreciate reading it, if I was your son. Especially because his image is used in the picture. But...Mothers know best. Great job!

There is such a bittersweet longing here.. pain stretched out over years.. How I hope you find the truth and that it brings release from the lingering shadows.

I like this poem. I seen this as a meditation on the conflict between hope and reality how hurtful thing that struggle can be especially with the ones we love. Well done:)

I like this piece, i am fond of poetry that allows the reader to figure out what it means to them in different ways than the author may have intended as you can see from the range of comments this is one such piece
