Just a Plain SongA Poem by Christina May ShanabergLyrics written for the late Harmonica Joe!JUST A PLAIN SONG
This song won't make you smile Or cause you to cry; It has no "catchy" new style, As it passes you by; It's just a plain song; Just a plain song.
Just a plain song to sing, In the evening calm, And no cheers will it bring; Even, disliked by some; A plain song has no meaning, But to fill the air, With words and music teaming Into song everywhere.
This song won't make you smile Or cause you to cry; It has no "catchy" new style, As it passes you by; It's just a plain song; Just a plain song.
A plain song is quite simple And easy to learn; It talks not of great temples Or, even, a barn; Sound the same, in the city, As down on the farm; A plain song ain't pretty; It can't do no harm.
This song won't make you smile Or cause you to cry; It has no "catchy" new style, As it passes you by; It's just a plain song; Just a plain song.
It's just a plain song; Just a plain song. © 2010 Christina May ShanabergAuthor's Note
