Fireworks

Fireworks

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

FIREWORKS

Cascading diamond colors

Floating down from heaven;

Children, fathers, and mothers

Gazing up at the evening;

Exploding sight and sound,

Highlighting the crowded park;

Sitting quietly, on the ground,

Waiting for beauty, in the dark;

The sky alive with stars,

Falling to earth in patterns,

Like fireflies in jars;

Excitement, while the lamp burns;

The gleaming shower ends

And everyone travels home;

Again, reality begins,

When the fireworks are gone.

' The sky alive with stars, Falling to earth in patterns, Like fireflies in jars; '

what a great description, absolutely lovely. I think this is an exciting as well as wonderful write about fireworks, about the day .. your words are like another celebration of a sky filled tribute.

Great piece, though it seems you mixed up some singulars/plurals. Otherwise, another good piece.

The conclusion really hits a stark contrast between the brief moment of excitement and normality. The description of the fireworks is conveyed very nicely, and the rhyme scheme sits well on the whole without being overly pretty. A good standard of poetry.

Between the bride, groom and the fireworks, I know this wedding had to be a beautiful scene. Marriage is such an angelic union in itself, and I think the fireworks added a little spark to the occasion. Nice write.
