Fireworks

Fireworks

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

FIREWORKS

Cascading diamond colors

Floating down from heaven;

Children, fathers, and mothers

Gazing up at the evening;

Exploding sight and sound,

Highlighting the crowded park;

Sitting quietly, on the ground,

Waiting for beauty, in the dark;

The sky alive with stars,

Falling to earth in patterns,

Like fireflies in jars;

Excitement, while the lamp burns;

The gleaming shower ends

And everyone travels home;

Again, reality begins,

When the fireworks are gone.

what a great description, absolutely lovely. I think this is an exciting as well as wonderful write about fireworks, about the day .. your words are like another celebration of a sky filled tribute.

Fireworks are one of the great holiday traditions. I have boxes of them that we set off from time to time.

Enjoyed this piece Chris.

This is very descriptive and expressive write that drew me in and held my attention..It also correlates to the few minutes of excitement that the fireworks display then back to going to our ordinary lives..Keep the creative pen flowing...Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my work..Sara

Fireworks are beautiful when in the sky for all to see and in our memories for a long time to come. It amazes me the things we remember that touched us along the way. Good poem!

We are captivated for a while with the beauty of the sky! I like to commend writers for the imagery they display. This was done very well.

Another brilliant Chinese invention. almost anybody from 2 to 102 loves fireworks.
it creates a world of color and pattern, and it is a bummer when it all ends.

Never before have I heard such an awesome description of the fourth of July.
This poem transported me back to Fourths of July at McGuire Air Force Base where we always went as kids to watch the fireworks.
Thank you for this great poem.

Your words describe a fireworks celebration perfectly. All the awe and excitement as each burst happens and then its all over. Nice job.
