Sitting on a Shelf

Sitting on a Shelf

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

SITTING ON A SHELF

Why did you paint a zero,

Holding you within yourself;

Can it really be true,

That you like sitting on a shelf;

Do you have no ambition

To venture to life's summit;

Explain this cowardice submission

To barriers that do not exist;

Failure is never final,

Unless you want it that way,

But fears can be fatal,

If they grow, with each passing day;

The farther down you bend,

The harder to be upright;

I believe in you, my friend,

And I will help you fight.

sounds like you are a GOOD FRIEND! Willing to go to the outback to help a friend! I too would do the same; go to the end and back again if a friend contacted me and requested my appearance. haha... might end up in jail together... haha.

We need to assist each other. Even strangers. I go by a man on I-94 asking for money for food. I give him a few dollars and always talk to him. He give me a blessing. I believe what we do for other will leave the mark of a good life. No-one leave this world un-scar. Poem is strong. I like the internal story. A excellent poem.
