Rain

Rain

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

A compliment to the poem "Snow!"

RAIN

The rain had gone away

And left its puddles lay,

Glistening pink, in evening sun;

A mini-lake for everyone;

The clouds had blown east

And returned the world to peace;

Oh, lightning and thunder,

How they love to wander;

Raindrops cling to the grass

And travel invisible trails, on windowglass;

Mist steaming, back into the sky,

Leaving the road, again, so dry;

It helps everything live and grow;

But, perhaps, next visit it will be snow.

I've been enjoying the rain since childhood and your write is LOVELY!!
Used to walk after a rain to splash in the puddles; spent a day or two on Long's Peak hopeing not to be struck by lightening since I was the tallest thing up there; even most trees were shorter than I at that altitude. ;~)
Mount Vernon? I'm in Newark.

I love the rain, it gives me time to contemplate when the sun will shine again. I like your rhyming, it is an almost lost art, sadly much maligned, but you do it with grace.

Ah! The perfect tribute poem to rain. I love to watch the rain and think how it makes fresh the world and is the stuff that gives all life on earth life. This is very well written too.

I like this a lot, you sure can choose the right words to tell it like it is. Sounds like weather in Ohio.
