Which Words

Which Words

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

WHICH WORDS

Always, left to wonder,

Which words should I

Have back then uttered

And why didn't I.

I could have mentioned,

You make my life worth living,

But I only demanded

More than you had for giving;

I, only then, wondered

How much happiness you could bring;

I never really listened

To the sad words you were saying.

Forever, all I see

Is pain on your face,

When you left me,

And her, in my place.

Standing, by the window,

And peeking out at the rain;

Now, I really know

The stabbing wrath of feeling pain;

Why couldn't I show

The dreams for us, in my brain;

Oh, I will let you go

And, alone, I will go insane.

Eternally, I see darkness,

Inside a heart of blue;

Waiting, in my loneliness,

To say, "I love you. . . !

I really do love you, forever."

Oh wow, this is powerful. I've been here, staring at the back of the person I love the most, watching them leave... because sometimes we are our own worst enemy, always sabotaging what could be great. This poem is very real and well written. Fantastic job! :D

An emotionally painful read. And such an experience takes a chunk out of one's being.
Well written.

WOW, where did this come from? A very emotional story of an undying love that you wish you had held onto. I am a real romantic & I believe sometimes things do turn back around to where they first began.
