Happy Days, MotherA Poem by Christina May ShanabergAnother poem for Mom, of courseHAPPY DAYS, MOTHER
Every year, I write you a poem for Mother's Day, But this year, I have something special to say; I love you most for just being you, With all of the generous things you do; When I need to talk, you are my friend, On whose confidence I can always depend; I never had to moan and complain, when I am low; You comfort me, automatically, because somehow you know; Oh, you like to tell embarassing stories about my past, But I know the tales of yours are coming next; You have been a part of most of my fun, But you always understood that I do my deepest thinking alone; You guided me down only the paths that interested me; It was hard for you, at times, to let me be as I wanted to be; You offered me your shoulder to cry upon, But you encouragedme to solve the source of the tears, on my own; There is much more that I could say, But my respect for you increases, each day. © 2010 Christina May ShanabergAuthor's Note
