Cascading Memories

Cascading Memories

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

Just a reflection on a broken love!

CASCADING MEMORIES

Memories cascading through falls;

Then, my beloved darling calls

Trying to lift my spirits high,

But, mournfully, I can only cry.

The way that it used to be

And the way he loved me;

The way, sadly,  it is today

And was, when happiness fell away.

Reality erodes young lovers' dreams;

Bliss of love no longer remains;

Hearts find ways to be mended,

When two lives together have ended.

We knew the thing we had going

Would not be never ending,

But we had to live our todays

For tomorrow's yesterdays.

So, I shall tell him that he is free

To walk on, without being beside me,

But I hope he will never forget

What we learned and what it meant.
